How to Set Up Outlook 2003

Before you can use Outlook 2003 to send and receive Discovery Map e-mail, you need to set up an account. You can have more than one accountfor business, personal, and so onand each person who uses your computer may have their own, completely separate account. Outlook 2003 gracefully handles it all.

Start Outlook 2003
There are many ways to start Outlook 2003, but here's a sure-fire way to find and start it.

Click the Start button.

Point to All Programs.

Click Outlook 2003.

Set Up an Outlook 2003 E-Mail Account
The Internet Connection Wizard makes short work of setting up
your online mailbox by walking you through each step for every
e-mail account you set up.

Before you get going, make sure you have received your account information from Discovery Map. Just to review:
First, information about the e-mail servers:

Our server supports both POP3 (most e-mail accounts) and IMAP .

Our incoming mail server is: discoverymap.biz
|
| • |
Our outgoing mail server is: discoverymap.biz
|

Second, information about your account:

Your account name and password
|
| • |
Our server supports Secure Password Authentication (SPA) to access your e-mail accounthowever, special instructions for setup are required. Leave this unchecked by default.

Start Outlook 2003, and on the Tools menu, click Email Accounts.
If the Email Account Wizard starts up automatically, skip ahead to step 4.

Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next to continue.

On the Server Type page of the wizard, choose the type of email server you wish to use.
Click Next.

Discovery Map email servers support both POP3 and IMAP protocols. In most cases you will want to choose POP3.

This is the Internet E-mail Settings page. Here we set up all of the information we need to access your email. The settings are as follows:

Your Name: Type your name as you wish it to appear on emails you send to others.

Email Address: Enter your full email address.
|

Incoming mail server: discoverymap.biz
|
| • |
Outgoing mail server: discoverymap.biz |
| • |
User Name: As provided by Discovery Map. |
| • |
Password: As provided by Discovery Map. |
Below is an example of how your configuration should look when completed:
Note: If you're concerned about break-ins to your e-mail,
click to clear the check in the Remember Password box.
You'll then be prompted for the password each time you send or
retrieve mail.

Click More Settings |

Choose the Outgoing Server tab.
Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication option.

Click Ok, Click Next, and then click Finish. You are now ready to use your email!

Close Outlook 2003
In closing, Outlook 2003 works just as all other Windows programs do.

On the File menu, click Exit.
Tip: For a fast way out,
press ALT+F4.
