Welcome to Durango—your doorway to Southwest Colorado and the Four Corners! Colorado's western slope boasts 14,000-foot peaks and some of the most magnificent valleys, canyons and rivers in all of Colorado.

Durango was established as a mining town in 1881 and is the home of the historic Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Nestled in the San Juan Mountains at 6,512 feet, Durango has all the amenities of a big city with all the charm of a small Victorian town.

For the outdoor enthusiast, Durango offers the ultimate in hiking, mountain biking, camping, hunting, fishing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, backpacking, and horseback riding, just to name a few! The winter months offer first class skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice climbing and ice fishing.

If you came for a more relaxing stay, don't miss the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, take a canoe out onto Vallecito Lake or Electra Lake, or stroll the historic downtown district with dozens of fine restaurants, shops and cafes.

No visit to southwestern Colorado is complete without driving "The Million Dollar Highway," considered to be one of the most beautiful scenic drives in all of America.

As part of the Four Corners region, the only place in the United States where four states meet, many unique and varied towns, resorts, and National Parks are our neighbors! Mesa Verde, Moab, Ouray, Telluride, Durango Mountain Resort, Pagosa Springs, and Navajo Lake are all within a few hours' drive.

Welcome to the Great American West—enjoy your stay! All the history, adventure and beauty of America is waiting for you here in Durango.
