Map of Whitefish, Montana

Once started as a logging town called Stumptown, Whitefish, Montana, borders Glacier National Park and has become the recreational capital for all seasons. Skiing, golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, snowmobiling, dining, theater and shopping—there are things for all people.

Once visitors get their opportunity to travel to Northwest Montana, there's a good chance they'll be finding a way to make it become their home. Fresh water and majestic mountain peaks, with friendly people, is why this beautiful place is one the country's fastest growing recreational areas.

Tucked away in thick forests bordered with lakes and mountains, it isn't unusual to see the local friendly moose roaming the streets. You might even see Vikings and yettis roaming the streets during the annual winter events entertaining families and friends. It is all delivered in Montana style! Where else do you hear of furniture races on the ski-slopes or bar stool races through town? You asked for Montana. You get it all in Whitefish, Columbia Falls, West Glacier, Polebridge, and Glacier Park.

Located 13 miles north of Kalispell and Flathead Lake, you're close to it all. Established as a golfing Mecca, you'll have many options on which course to play. Even take a day and drive up to the top of Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park and witness panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Rent a watercraft and take a day on the lake or rent a snowmobile and tour the winter wonderlands. With over 3,000 acres, Big Mountain Resort offers fun for the whole family with skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, sledding and sleigh rides in the winter, or mountain biking and hiking, thrill sleds and other fun activities in the summer.

You'll have many choices to make when finding your place to stay while here. Whether it's a hotel, motel, bed and breakfast, condominium, camping, a cabin on the lake or real estate opportunities, you're in the center of it all. Come see why it's considered the "last best place." Visit Northwest Montana once and you'll be finding a way to make it your home.
