Amelia Island, Florida & St. Marys, Georgia - Things to Do

Visitors find an immediate calm and serenity upon arrival into this unique area. From beautiful sandy beaches, to the rolling waves along the ocean and the sway of the grass upon the dunes, the stage is set for a perfect family vacation, romantic honeymoon or quiet getaway. Guests can be pampered with a massage or a day at the salon. It has become a bride and groom’s dream location for beach or waterfront weddings and the area exceeds even the greatest expectations.

The wild horses that roam along the pristine seaside of Cumberland Island bring travelers back to a time and place of long ago. Historic Plantation and Victorian homes, museums and Fort Clinch give tourists much to do and learn as they explore the communities. Bicycle and nature trails, walking paths and award-winning state and national parks are in abundance on either side of the state line. Fantastic hikes and serene ocean, river and back creek kayaking await the adventurous traveler. For those that enjoy a more guided tour, outstanding charter fishing and sunset cruises provide a beautiful avenue to see the sights and learn local history.

Championship golf courses are located on Amelia Island Plantation as well as several other locations on the island. Golfers also have the unique opportunity to play a few rounds on the Trident Lakes Course proudly located at Kingsbay Naval Station. A phenomenal miniature golf course is centrally located on Amelia Island and the waterpark of any child’s dreams is in the heart of St. Marys, just minutes away from downtown. Create your own pottery, paintings and crafts are favorite pastimes of the locals.

The area is such a wonderful central location that visitors can make a quick trip to the Okefenokee Swamp and Wildlife Refuge or Chesser Wineries in Folkston, GA, or enjoy a day in the metropolitan city of Jacksonville, FL.
